About Us

In 2015 I was working at a desk job typing prescriptions for an insurance company. I quickly realized that I wasn't feeling fulfilled, and I decided to start my own candle company. A couple of months after I had this idea, I quit my full-time job and took a part-time position at a hospital. This allowed me to work on my business during the week. 

I experimented with many different waxes, wicks, and fragrances until I was satisfied with my candles. Friends and family were very helpful in critiquing my scents and designs. In my first couple of years of business, I sold my candles here and there on sites like Etsy and at local farmer's markets. In 2017, I took a hiatus from my business after my son was born. 

In October 2018, I had an idea for a unique design I had never seen in stores before. I called them my "latte-style candles." I'm a coffee lover, and I designed the candles to look like a latte with fun toppings. It was a major learning curve, but this design resulted in hundreds of orders in a month's time! The response blew me away. 

Over the years, I have grown a YouTube channel, made Winding Wick Candles my full-time job, and landed features in major publications. 

In 2023, I published my first candle-making book, Candle Craft, A Complete Guide. 

Winding Wick Candles aims to showcase the art of decorative candle making. We also want to provide unique scents and experiences for our customers.

About the candles:

My candles are made from a paraffin wax blend. With proper candle care you will be able to enjoy highly scented candles. Make sure to keep your wick trimmed to 1/4 inch to get the best results from your candles.
